Road Trips

My apologies for not updating the blog in a long time. Today I decided that I need to post and like the Nike slogan "Just Do It"! I enjoy photos and think they're the best way to showcase the months that I haven't written on here. So here are a few adventures that I got myself into these past few months. I will try my best to update this blog a little more often as I used to when I was in Hong Kong, so check back soon!

GEO-WASH'S MANSION
(LEFT PHOTO) Visiting President George Washington's mansion in Mt. Vernon, Virginia with my friends Susan and Margaret. (RIGHT PHOTO) That would be me goofing around on the property and attempting to get a jumping shot. The property was so big, the weather was nice and hot, and the scenery was just breathtaking . . . to think that our founding father once looked over that property and thought of how to run this great nation!

CATO GALA My friend, Chip, invited me to the CATO Institute's gala honoring Akbar Ganji (pictured) for The Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty which honors those who have made a significant contribution to advance human freedom. While I was listening to the Iranian translation of Mr. Ganji's speech, I was thinking of how lucky I am . . . to be an American, to
be free, and to have the right to choose and make my own decisions.

CHI-TOWN Went to Chicago to visit my friend, Kim, and stopped by Oprah's studios while we were walking around the Taste of Randolph. A trip to Chicago is not complete without a visit to the Navy Pier and a ride on the ferris wheel with my brother. This was my fifth trip to this beautiful city and it never seems to disappoint. I just loved walking around the diverse city (kinda reminded me of Hong Kong), although I don't think I'd like the snowy, cold windy winters there.

SUPPORTING PAGEANT FRIENDS (LEFT PHOTO) My friend Cat (in the floral dress) just won the title of Miss Air for the Miss Earth US pageant. We went to Kansas City for her preparation for the pageant. (RIGHT PHOTO) Lauren and I were both 4th runner ups last year in Miss Kansas and Miss Kansas USA, respectively. This year Lauren won and will be competing at Miss America in January. (BOTTOM LEFT)I went on a 12 hour road trip with my friend Sam and her family to support her at her pageant in Vicksburg, Mississippi (pictured also is Megan who won America's Miss Teen US). (BOTTOM RIGHT) In the spring, I was honored to be the first spokesperson for the Cosmos pageants and named Miss Cosmos.

Hi Lily! You're so cute! Thanks so much for supporting Leslie - Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen - and attending her send off last night! Remember when you and your brother 'interviewed' her for practice? She's grown so much hasn't she? YOU looked stunning last night. Bushells of hugs to you! BB
